8 Tips for Making Your Wedding Luxurious

8 Tips for Making Your Wedding Luxurious

Unique Wedding Planning Tips | Luxury Wedding Photographer | Elegant Wedding Ideas

If you’re fortunate enough to be planning a high-end luxury wedding to celebrate your upcoming marriage, you’re probably overwhelmed with the number of options available to you. While I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner who can help with the process, I have photographed a fair share of luxury weddings and have seen some spectacular stand-out details. I’ve compiled a brief list of my 8 top tips for making your wedding luxurious to help you with your planning.

  1. Choose a Unique Venue

Your venue is the first thing that your guests will notice at your wedding, and it’s likely one of the main things that they will remember. If you are looking to throw a luxurious wedding it’s crucial to pick a venue that is upscale and unique. Whether it’s a waterfront mansion or a grand library, you’ll want somewhere that sticks out in your guests’ minds.

  1. Involve Your Guests in Your Color Scheme

In recent years we have seen the rise of more specific dress codes for wedding events, specifically in the luxury market. This is a great way to make your guests feel more involved in the wedding, as well as provide fantastic photos throughout the day. Whether you’re asking your guests to wear all black or giving them a choice of colors that match your theme, this is a great way to bring your wedding up a notch.

  1. Hire a Live Ceremony Musician

Is there anything more luxurious than a harpist or string quartet? Hiring a live musician for your ceremony is one of the easiest ways to elevate your wedding. Whether you go with a group of musicians, or a single acoustic guitar, you really can’t go wrong.

  1. Invest in Lighting

Lighting is so often overlooked in wedding planning, and yet it can completely change the feel of an evening. Adding cafe string lights to outdoor spaces or uplighting along the walls of a ballroom can completely transform the space. Lighting changes can also silently cue your guests when it is time to hit the dance floor, or when the night is coming to an end.

  1. Upgrade Your Chairs

While chairs may not be the first thing that comes to your mind when wedding planning, an ugly chair can truly ruin the look of a reception space. Talk to your venue about upgrading from their standard banquet chairs to Chiavari chairs, or if you want to splurge, Louis XVI style chairs. Even more, choose a set of special upholstered chairs for the sweetheart table to really stand out.

  1. Set Up Lounge Vignettes Around the Reception Space

One thing that consistently sets apart a luxury wedding from a standard wedding is offering a variety of spaces for your guests. Throughout the evening your guests will likely need a break from the dance floor, and sitting at a dinner table can feel awkward and limit them to talking to people at the same table. Offering several small lounges throughout your spaces allows your guests an alternative to sitting at their table while still giving them a reprieve from standing. It allows for better conversation, and can even double as a cigar lounge or a photo opportunity.

  1. Splurge on Hanging Florals

High-end weddings are known for having over-the-top florals, but sometimes it can become too much. If you want a floral installation that creates a statement of luxury without being overbearing or gaudy, consider hanging florals from the ceiling of your venue. Ceiling installations are stunning and unforgettable but can offer a more minimal feeling to the space by keeping the flowers above eye level.

  1. Offer Passed Drinks

Finally, one of my favorite luxurious details on a wedding day: offering passed drinks. In the same way that you can offer passed hors d’oeuvres

during cocktail hour, talk to your catering or bartending company about offering passed drinks. Having just a few staff members with trays of beverages can eliminate a line at the bar; often everyone’s least favorite part of a wedding. Not having to leave your conversation or the dance floor to grab another beverage will make a massive difference in your guests’ experience.

Wedding planning can be overwhelming, especially when you are planning a grand affair. Our tips for planning a luxury wedding are by no means all-encompassing but can help you choose what areas to focus on for your big day.
