Let me introduce myself, I am Christopher Cook, a Utah Wedding photographer, Dallas wedding photographer and beyond!

Holly and Joe had a beautiful wedding at Thanksgiving Point. They were both really excited to get married and couldn’t wait for their guests to see everything come together. It was a gorgeous day, with blue skies, puffy white clouds, and warm weather, a perfect scenario for a Utah Wedding photographer! The couple decided to meet at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple before their wedding so they could have a religious ceremony first, followed by their reception.

Holly and Joe started their wedding off with a religious ceremony at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, which is located just outside of Salt Lake City. The reception was held at Loggia Gardens in Thanksgiving Point–a beautiful venue with views of the valley below. The couple also had their reception in The Farmhouse Restaurant, which offers indoor and outdoor space for up to 300 guests!

Greeting the guests

Th at the Rose gardens, where they were seated in an outdoor tent. I love capturing authentic and candid photography of all the guests seeing each other, sometimes for the first time in YEARS!

The Ring Ceremony

The ring ceremony is a tradition that dates back to ancient times. The bride and groom exchange rings as a symbol of their love, which can be traced back to ancient Rome . The rings are usually made of precious metals like gold or silver and often have gemstones set into them. This tradition began when early Christians would wear these rings as an outward sign of their commitment to Christ (the ‘marriage’ between God and the believer).

The concept of exchanging wedding bands has changed over time from being solely religious to becoming more secularized. However, it still retains its sacredness within certain faiths.

Holly and Joe’s reception

The reception was held at the Loggia Garden underneath a starry night. A cocktail party with a buffet dinner, it was decorated with twinkle lights and modern florals. The cake was decorated with modern flowers, too–but it also had a little surprise inside!

Dancing Followed by a Sparkler Exit

The couple danced to their song, “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. Then exited the reception beneath a tunnel of guests with sparklers aloft adding even more stars into the sky.

Conclusion

This ceremony was a touching moment for everyone in attendance. I  am so glad to have been able to document it. Holly and Joe’s reception was also a fun event with plenty of dancing and food!
